Question making is the most important thing in English speaking. As most of the times your conversation starts with a question so it’s very necessary to improve it. Here are few tips to learn questioning skills:
Tip 1: Keep the rules of question making in your mind.
Rule 1:
W/H family + helping verb + subject + verb + object (if there is any) + ?
For example: When did he take food ?. In this sentence When is w/h family, did is helping verb, he is subject, take is verb, food is subject and after that question mark.
Rule 2:
In case you have to begin your question with Whose, How Much, How Many or Which, apply this rule only:
W/H family + object + helping verb + subject + verb + ?
For Example:
Q.Whose car did he drive ?
Q.How much water will he fill ?
Rule 3:
If there is no subject and the sentence is in affirmative form, than you don’t have to use helping verb in Past Indefinite and Present Indefinite tense.
For Example:
Q.Who writes the letter with pen ?
Q.Whose brother went to London ?
Tip 2: Do keep the rules of Tenses in mind. When you have to ask questions related to present things, ask questions only in present like:
Q. Why do you always get up late ?
Q. Where has he been for so long ?
In Past:
Q. Where did he go yesterday ?
Q. At what time were you studying last night ?
In Future:
Q. Where will he be playing ?
Q. Whose car will you purchase ?
Tip 3: Practice is the most important thing in English speaking. The more you practice the better you would be.
