  1. A man/woman of the world – a man/woman who has had many experiences and is not easily shocked. Example: She is a woman of the world. She can tell you what to do in this complex situation.
  2. All the world is a stage – this world is like a stage show. Example: Shakespeare said, “All the world is a stage, and all the men and women merely players.
  3. Be the end of the world – something serious/nothing left. Example: Rapes, Cruelty, Wars, Lack of humanity, don’t you think it is end of the world?
  4. Be at peace with the world – feeling happy as you are satisfied with your life. Example: To be at peace with the world sometimes you have to be selfish.
  5. Best of both possible worlds – the most desirable attributes of two different things or situations. Example: By going on a vacation to a religious place I felt I got the best of both possible worlds – I got change of place also and visited various temples as well.
  6. Carry the weight of the world on shoulders – to feel/act as one has immense problems. Example: Don’t think this way. If you feel you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders then you will remain demotivated. There are people who may be having more troubles than you so think positive.

  8. In one’s own world – when one is engrossed in one’s thoughts and is not aware of what’s happening. Example: Don’t remain lost in the world of your own. Just see the reality.
  9. On top of the world – blissfully happy. I was on top of the world when I got a job in one of the MNC’s.
  10. Be dead to the world – to be in deep sleep. Example: Sakshi was dead to the world when her family was murdered.
  11. Be in another world – to be lost in thoughts/daydreams. Example: I told him many times about it, but he never replied as if he is living in another world.
  12. From all corners of the world – from all parts of the world. Example: She is a very famous writer. She has admirers from all corners of the world.
