How to Create Humour in Speech

There are many ways to create humor in your speech. Humor is like any other skill or technique that can be learnt with practice. Here are some techniques one can use to create humor in his or her Speech with examples:-

1. Wordplay:

This can include puns, jokes and plays on words. Here are some examples for your better understanding:-

2. Incongruity:

This involves creating a mismatch between what is expected and what actually happens.

a. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don’t know.

3. Exaggeration:

This can involve overstating a point or making something seem larger or more important than it really is.

a. I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.

4. Self-deprecating humor:

This involves making fun of yourself in a way that is endearing or relatable to your audience.

a. “Today is not my day”, I mutter to myself every single day.

c. They say money talks. But all mine says is goodbye.

5. Observational humor:

This involves making observations about the world or about human behavior that are humorous because they are true.

a. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to
